The price of doing business with the Kardashians

People magazine paid $1.5 million for exclusive photo rights of Kim Kardashian’s wedding to Kris Humphries.

The good:

The issue sold 1.5 million copies (31 percent increase over the publication’s average sales).

People.com attracted 6 million readers over 4 days.

The bad:

In order to recoup on the financial cost of the photos, the magazine was sold for $4.99 at newsstands (a $1 increase over their normal issue price).

Because magazines only get $2 back for every issue sold on newsstands, People needed to sell an additional 750,000 issues in order to break even on the money spent on Kim Kardashian’s wedding.

Let’s just say, this wasn’t exactly a win for the magazine.

Kesha has reportedly been named the first Global Ambassador for the Humane Society International. As an ambassador for the society, Kesha will be calling on her fans to join her in signing HSI’s petition to ask the EU to honor its commitment to band the sale of cosmetics tested on animals by 2013, and also help raise funds for the organization. On Monday, Radar reported that she has been blowing off her court-ordered community service hours, however Lindsay claims she’s been performing her service at the Downtown Women’s Center for months now. Obviously, I don’t who to believe, but if Lindsay’s speaking the truth, then good on her! About time she get all of her community service shit sorted out!

According to MediaTakeOut, Beyonce faked her bump at the MTV VMAs. While Beyonce is in fact pregnant, she reportedly wore a prosthetic belly when she announced her pregnancy, in order to make it more dramatic. Honestly, I don’t see what the big deal is! I obviously don’t how true the whole prosthetic-baby-bump-shit is, but the bottom line is that she’s pregnant, so why can’t people just be happy for the lady? I mean, leave her alone!

It Gets Worse of the Day: YouTube sensation Rebecca Black was forced to leave her school after bullying became too much to bear.

The seventh grader was pulled out of school by her mother, Georgina Marquez, who is now homeschooling the embattled teen.

Referring to her harassing classmates, Black told ABC News “When I walk by they’ll start singing ‘Friday’ in a really nasally voice … Or, you know, they’ll be like, ‘Oh hey, Rebecca, guess what day it is?”

Marquez told ABC News she also wanted to give Black “more time to focus on her career.”
